Paul Bessette, President of TS&E, is an internationally recognized expert in the development and use of synthetic lubricants. More than technical know-how, Paul offers keen insights into choosing the best lubricant for specific components and operating environments, and his insights have passed the test of time. Hundreds of greases and lubricating oils that he has formulated over the last 30 years are still specified by OEMs in a broad range of industries around the globe. ResearchPaul has authored and presented dozens of technical papers based on original research in the field of synthetic lubrication. Most recently, he has presented his findings on: assessing thickeners in organic greases using a differential scanning calorimeter; measuring the vapor pressure of synthetic lubricants, using a self-fabricated vapor testing device; and using Attenuated Total Reflectance spectroscopy to arrive at a quantitative analysis of grease thickeners. Paul has also co-authored papers with distinguished scientists from NASA, and he serves as a peer reviewer for two highly respected journals of synthetic lubrication.
